Who we vote for is a matter of personal choice and integrity. Regardless of who gets elected, though, we know that “the king’s (president’s, prime minister’s, governor’s…) heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; He turns it wherever He will” Proverbs 21:1 {parenthetical addition mine}. God’s will has and will always move forward under the rule of good and evil leaders alike.
We hope for a better future, and as far as it depends on us, we create that better future by being peacemakers. Scripture is clear, though, that the condition of this world will get worse before it ultimately gets remade as new. When conditions around us deteriorate, we maintain our hope in that ultimate future.
So, hope with responsibility is our lot in this life. We know how the story goes, and during our brief time in this present world, we live in such a way that everyone has the opportunity to understand and share our hope.
